With the exception of holiday conflicts and summer break, NH4Israel hosts biweekly talks with refreshments at Manchester’s Temple Israel (TIM) at 6:30PM on alternate Wednesdays. If other venues and weekdays are scheduled, word of the change will be publicized in advance as well as posted on the calendar of events at NH4Israel.org. NH4Israel guest speakers generally address current issues surrounding the state of Israel as well as historical analyses of topics such as the Diaspora, anti-Semitism and the making of Israel.
On Wednesday, May 13th, NH4Israel welcomed Leah and Moshe Goldsmith of Itamar, a town in the Samarian mountains Judea-Samaria area of our Holy Land. Their life story has brought them back to Granite State, where they spent their honeymoon just before emigrating to Israel to raise a family. They chose to live in the “heartland”, which has seen its share of both blessings and curses. A blessing was the son who recently left IDF service and accompanied them on their trip to America. A curse might be our recollection of their town because of the jihadi massacre in Itamar of four members of the Shabo family and a neighbor. Three Shabo family members had the great fortune to be away that evening. Nevertheless they now have to handle the lifelong memory of their misfortune returning that night to discover the bloody massacre.
Despite some bad happenings at Itamar, the Goldsmiths brought to NH a message of encouragement and choosing life. The Goldsmiths see themselves as participating in the fulfillment of prophecy in revivifying our Holy Land. In the 1980s there were a mere 10 families in Itamar. Today there are over 300.
The Goldsmith family presented all the changes they witnessed as Itamar grew and answered many questions from the audience about life in Judea and Samaria. Much of what they presented is available on-line at http://touritamarsupportisrael.com/category/general/tour-itamar/
NH4Israel’s sister organization, Christians and Jews United for Israel (CJUI), held a family celebration and parade in honor of United Jerusalem Day on June 7th at Newton (MA) Center. Entertainment, rides for kids, music, dance and food were well received on a beautiful late spring day. NH4Israel helped with setup and dismantling and had an information desk with truthful brochures on Israel and its increasingly difficult existential struggle.
Lastly, NH4Israel and Word of Life (WOL) Church in Concord are partnering in organizing a charter bus trip to Washington, DC for the 10th annual Christians United for Israel (CUFI) Summit and meeting with elected officials on July 13th and 14th. Featured national speakers include Dennis Prager, Bret Stephens, Malcolm Hoenlein and Nobel Prize Winner, Elie Wiesel. For more information on the conference visit www.cufi.org and Margaret Carnahan with WOL at 603-228-2444.
